Beginnings Are Good!

That's it! I'm finally ready to begin a journey to happiness and healthy living. What did it take to get to this point of decision? An accidental reading of a particular number on the doctors report. Completely accidental and oh so shocking! It's been a couple of years since I last saw a number from the scale...and I was perfectly happy being oblivious of it. Maybe not seeing it gave me a false confidence. Maybe avoiding it was my way of denying what everyone else knew was happening. But now the genie is out of the bottle and there's no getting around it. It's time to get serious about losing this baggage that's kept me down for the last 20 years. Time to shed the excuses and get real about it.

So what's the number? At this point I'm not comfortable sharing even though you probably don't know me from Adam and if you did you wouldn't be surprised. Or if you know me and I told you the number you'd pretend to be shocked or even deny that I could be so overweight. Too bad you can't walk in my shoes for a moment and feel what it's like to be this large.

Those of you who are in the category of "obese" know the degradation of it and the scrutiny one comes under from being overweight. I know some of you are rolling your eyes right now and judging from the sidelines. If that's you let me give you a warning...what comes around goes around.  To those who feel my pain because you've "been there, done that"...I congratulate you on your efforts and success. And let me speak to those who are in the midst of the battle...don't give up! You CAN do this!

So as a result of reading my doctors report on Sunday night, I joined an organization called Slimgenics. I started on Tuesday and have already lost six pounds! I know it's all water weight but that's ok...it's a beginning. And beginnings are good!
